Google’s official, open-source Google Ads MCP server provides read-only access to advertising data through the Google Ads API.

What You Can (and Can’t) Do with MCP in Ad Platforms Today
All the best MCP servers for advertising fall into two groups: read-only servers for analysis and read/write servers for campaign management.
So here’s what you can do with MCP:
- Read: Google, Snap, and Microsoft servers limit the agent to reports and analysis. They cannot change account settings or spend budget.
- Read and write: Meta, Amazon, TikTok, X, and PropellerAds servers can create campaigns and adjust bids and targeting. The agent acts only on your request, and some platforms add their own safeguards: X, for example, creates every campaign paused until you activate it.
Today, MCP in advertising means delegating routine while you keep control – not autopilot.
How to Connect a Platform’s MCP Server
Setup depends on the type of MCP connector your platform offers :
- Hosted server: Paste the server URL into your AI chat app under Settings → Connectors, then authorize your platform account. Meta, PropellerAds, and Snap use this setup.
- Local connector: Install it on your device, generate an API token, and add it to the setup. Google, X, and downloadable connector files use this route.
